Do you pick up from my hotel?

Yes, and it's included. We cover San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde, Ocean Park and Old San Juan at no extra charge. If you're staying in Dorado, Rio Grande or further out, book anyway and tell us where — we'll confirm a pickup time and any surcharge by message before we take payment.

What if I can't swim well?

The El Yunque waterslide tour and the private tour both work for weak swimmers, and there are life vests in the van. The cave tours do not — you'll be in deep water in the dark. Tell us when you book and we'll put you on the right day.

Question 3

What happens if it rains?

Accepted Answer

We run. This is a rainforest and rain is the normal condition, not a problem. The only thing that stops us is heavy, sustained rain that raises river levels, and in that case we move you to another date or refund you in full. We make the call in the morning, not the night before.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your departure, for any reason, no questions. Inside 24 hours we can usually move you to a different day if we have the space.

Are the drinks really included?

On the Charco Azul tour and the Piñones tour, yes — cold beer, rum drinks and soft drinks, for guests 18 and over, once the physical part of the day is done. We don't serve anyone before the cave or the climb.

What shoes do I actually need?

Closed-toe water shoes with a rubber sole and real tread. Not flip-flops, not Crocs, not water socks. If you didn't pack any, they're about $20 in any of the pharmacies on Ashford Avenue and they will be the best $20 of your trip.

Is there an age limit?

It's tour by tour. El Yunque works from about six, the private tour from four with notice, the Charco Azul day from ten, and the caves hike from twelve. Every age is listed on the tour page.

Question 8

What do I do with my phone and wallet?

Accepted Answer

Leave them locked in the van. Your guide carries a waterproof camera and shoots your group all day, and you get the photos the same evening at no charge. Nobody has ever regretted this trade.

How big are the groups?

Accepted Answer

Twelve people maximum on shared departures, and usually fewer. The caves hike runs with two guides regardless of group size. The private tour is your party only, up to eight.

Do I need to tip?

Accepted Answer

It's not built into the price and it's not expected. If your guide made the day, they'll take it gratefully.
